A question sent to us from one of our readers

Dear Israelite P.R.I.D.E.,

My child is having difficulty in language arts and math and I cannot afford to pay for tutoring. Can you recommend any free or cheap websites that I can use to help my child get better grades?

Thanks

  1. Also, in addition to websites:
Check with your child's teachers, principal, or counselor. Many good teachers are willing to stay after school, or make themselves available during free periods in order to give students extra help. Some schools also have student tutors that provide free or low-cost tutoring. And, also checkout community based non profits, youth groups, churches, college fraternities and sororities, and minority organizations (Urban League, etc..) Many of these organizations offer free tutoring services. And don't forget family and friends...if you inquire, there is probably someone you know who is proficient in the area that your child is struggling. Don't be shy, to ask for help.
